I’m not going to pretend I’m anywhere close to being a dietician. I’m what you’d call a lunch enthusiast. With up to three decades of accumulated experience in lunch AND dinner, I’ve come to the conclusion that meals are just about as much art and impression as they are science and proportion.

Some days, you’d like to get things just right, but there are others where you just want to pack everything in with as little effort as possible; all of the protein and carbs you possibly can. Life is like that, you can be playful and reckless at times. I’m happy to inform you that this is definitely the time to let loose.

Allow me to make a case for what I feel is the most efficient lunch delivery system to date—the wrap.

Now think about it this way, while pita bread tends to have a higher calorie count than rice (about 270 versus 130 per 100 grams), I find that the tradeoff in terms of convenience and protein-to-carb ratio lends well for people who are constantly on-the-go and need some fast, efficient food.

Since the serving sizes for pita bread are relatively consistent, you can mess with how much protein or vegetables you throw in.

Personally, I’m thinking something like this:

  • Pita bread
  • Corned beef with potatoes
  • A bit of lettuce
  • Maybe some mushroom chips for texture
  • Sauce optional

We’ll be messing around in the kitchen this week, so we might see this whole mess come to life. Are you as excited as we are? You better be.
