Pey Raymond is a Contemporary artist and a part-time Art Teacher. Raymond, born and raised in San Fernando Pampanga, started sketching and painting at a very young age. Her late sister Jojit taught her how to draw when she was eight. This catapulted to her realization of her passion in visual arts. As a child, she was surrounded with creative minds in the family. Undoubtedly, artistry was in her blood.
She joined various art competitions since she was in high school (St. Scholastica’s Academy) and college (University of the Philippines). After graduating from the University of the Philippines, she started working as a Preschool teacher and pursued her passion as a Freelance Artist, painting for residences and resorts. She had her first solo exhibition in Makati City at the age of 23. She then traveled to Los Angeles, California to study Art Studies and Animation (Traditional and 3D) and graduated in 2008. Aside from working as an animator in Santa Monica, she also had her first group art exhibition in Los Angeles featuring her “Figure in Motion” artworks. Learning and working with talented artists and animators in Los Angeles was the greatest experience she had as a young artist. Studying Animation pushed her to be more dynamic with her style. She moved back to Manila in 2012. After devoting her time as a fulltime mom for 4 years, she was ready to go back to what she’s always loved to do…to paint and make art.
She just had her two-man art exhibition with Mr. Pancho Piano last December 2017 which featured her new abstract pieces. Some of her works are currently displayed in Galeria Lienzo, 2/F Serendra Shops, BGC. In her recent solo art exhibition (in Prism Gallery, Salcedo St., Makati City) entitled “The Bright White Light” just this February 2017, she presented 18 touching pieces inspired by the love between a mother and her child. She also joined a number of art exhibitions both here in the Philippines and in Los Angeles, California. Some of the group exhibitions here in the Philippines were “Art Flows” in 2016 which was held in Rockwell, Makati City and Prism Art Group Show in Prism Gallery, Makati City.
